On August 10th, 2023, Sensio Inc. recalled roughly 860,000 units of their electric and stovetop pressure cookers due to reports of burn hazards. According to the report listed on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s site, the pressure cooker’s lid can unlock and be removed during use, causing the hot contents to splash out unexpectedly, posing a burn hazard to consumers. Sensio has received over 60 reports of incidents, including 61 burn injuries, some of which involved second and third-degree burns to the face, torso, arms, and hands. The recalled pressure cookers were manufactured in China and imported by Sensio Inc. of New York.
The products were sold in stores nationwide, including retailers like JCPenney, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, and Target. They were also sold online at Amazon.com and other websites from September 2015 through September 2020, with pricing between $30 and $70 for the electric pressure cookers and between $8 and $18 for the stovetop pressure cookers. As mentioned on the recall, should Sensio customers find they are in possession of one of the recalled pressure cookers, they should immediately stop using the recalled pressure cookers and contact Sensio for the next steps.
Which Pressure Cookers Were Affected by the Recall?
This recall involves the Bella, Bella Pro Series, Crux, Cooks electric pressure cookers, and the Bella stovetop pressure cookers. The stainless-steel electric pressure cookers involved in the recall come in the six, eight, and 10-quart capacities, while the stovetop pressure cookers include the five, eight, and 12-quart capacities. Sensio Is Offering Their Customers Full Refunds
The home goods company is offering their customers a refund if they own one of the recalled pressure cookers. Depending on the model, Sensio is offering a reimbursement of up to $43.00 for electric units and $9.00 for stove-top units. However, the company stated if you paid more than what was listed on the return for one of the pressure cookers and can provide satisfactory proof of purchase, you may qualify for a larger refund. Sensio customers who have applied for a refund can expect a refund roughly two weeks from when the company receives your unit.
