John Tomlinson was born in Mobile, Alabama and raised in Waynesboro, Mississippi and Monroeville, Alabama. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama where he was a member of the football team under Coach Gene Stallings. John graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Faulkner University, Jones School of Law and has dedicated his practice to civil justice since that time. He has over 20 years of litigation experience and has litigated cases involving products liability, personal injury, occupational and environmental toxic torts, business disputes, and consumer protection from corporate fraud and bad faith. He has also worked on cases involving employment law statutes, including claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and other statutes protecting employees from discrimination. As a result of his efforts, John has been able to obtain numerous favorable outcomes for his clients. John Tomlinson has handled many high-profile cases, including litigation against BP Oil and other responsible parties as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, where he played a significant part in assisting the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee (PSC) (MDL No. 2179) in its settlement negotiations with BP. As part of the PSC economic damages team, he assisted in the negotiations of significant portions of the business economic loss models for the Deepwater Horizon class settlement, which ultimately resulted in multiple billions of dollars in compensation for class members.

John’s dedication and significant efforts helped thousands of claimants in the Gulf Coast Areas receive compensation for their losses due to the oil spill. John has also served as a lead attorney on several personal injury/products liability cases involving Monsanto/Bayer’s weed killer Roundup in which he fought on behalf of hundreds of individuals who developed Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) due to exposure to Roundup. Mr. Tomlinson has been a featured presenter for several legal webcasts and conferences, including: ""BP Oil Spill Reimbursement Webcast,"" presented by the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA); ""Causation Issues under the Oil Protection Act"" for the ABA Section of Litigation and Criminal Justice Joint Annual Conference; State Bar of Georgia, Toxic Torts Seminar held in Atlanta, GA; Panel discussion regarding ""Settling Mass Tort Claims - Legal and Ethical Challenges;"" and the CLE Alabama Damages and Remedies Seminar at the University of Alabama School of Law, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. John Tomlinson is a past president of the Montgomery County Alabama Association for Justice, where he also served as secretary and treasurer, and as a member of the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, American Bar Association, and the Alabama Association for Justice. In addition to his work as an attorney, Mr. Tomlinson has been involved in many charities and fund-raising events through the years, including Magic Moments, the March of Dimes, the Henry Tellis Foundation, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He also served on the Selection Committee of the Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award, which recognizes Christian Leadership in Athletics for student athletes.
